What is Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)?

SSDI is a federal disability benefits program run by Social Security Administration (SSA).  SSDI provides financial assistance and access to Medicare insurance after a 24 month wait period.  The SSDI financial assistance amount is based on an individual’s payment into the Federal Income Contributions Act (FICA) and the number of accumulated qualified work quarters.   For more detailed information on this program click this link (can provide the link to SSA Website explaining SSDI).
